Position Overview
The HVAC Project Manager will oversee the complete lifecycle of commercial and industrial mechanical projects from preconstruction through project closeout. Responsibilities include project planning, budgeting, scheduling, client communication, subcontractor coordination, financial management, and overall project execution.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of HVAC and mechanical systems along with the leadership skills necessary to successfully manage multiple projects while maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
ResponsibilitiesProject Management
- Manage commercial and industrial HVAC projects from award through completion
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource plans
- Monitor project performance, profitability, and overall execution
- Coordinate with field personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, engineers, and clients
- Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, and scope requirements
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, project documentation, and closeout processes
- Conduct project meetings and provide regular updates to stakeholders
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards
- Maintain compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and safety requirements
Client Relationships
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout project execution
- Build and maintain strong long-term customer relationships
- Provide proactive communication and project updates
- Identify opportunities for additional services, future projects, and system upgrades
- Support ongoing customer satisfaction and repeat business efforts
Team Leadership
- Collaborate closely with field operations, service teams, estimators, engineers, and leadership
- Assist in mentoring and supporting junior team members
- Foster a positive, solutions-oriented project environment
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence
Project Experience
Experience with commercial and industrial mechanical systems including:
- Airside Systems
- Chilled Water Systems
- Heating Water Systems
- Steam Systems
- Domestic Water Systems
- Waste & Vent Systems
Typical project sizes range from approximately $500K to $5M.
QualificationsRequired
- 3+ years of HVAC, Mechanical Construction, or Mechanical Project Management experience
- Experience managing commercial and/or industrial mechanical projects
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, installation methods, and construction practices
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and subcontractor coordination
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- HVAC certifications or industry-related credentials
- Experience with design-build projects
- Experience supporting estimating, proposal development, or preconstruction efforts
- Existing relationships within the commercial or industrial construction market
Software Experience
Experience with one or more of the following:
- Procore
- Microsoft Project
- Viewpoint
- Bluebeam
- Estimating Software Platforms
- CRM Systems
