Video Editor & Motion Designer
The Video Editor/Motion Designer will be a member of the Creative Learning and Media Services team at Excelsior University. Our team works closely with subject matter experts and other community and university stakeholders to develop transformative, engaging, high -quality media assets for our students. You will work with an ambitious group of technology and media professionals specializing in graphic design, animation, user practice design, videography, software development, immersive learning, and more.
We are pursuing a talented and creative Motion Graphics/Video Editor responsible for creating visually engaging and compelling video content. You should understand documentary-style editing techniques and motion design principles, including visual effects and storytelling through motion. An ideal candidate will have practice with 2D character animation and storyboarding.
To succeed in this function, a candidate should have a keen eye for detail, strong technical expertise in video editing and motion graphics software, and the capability to collaborate effectively. this job offer is located out of the university’s home office in Albany, NY with the option of considering remote candidates. Remote employees will have mandatory occasional travel for meetings, conferences, and professional development opportunities. Remote employees are expected to be available during work hours 8:30am – 5:00pm Eastern time. The University will supply necessary equipment to execute the essential functions of this job (e.g., laptop, docking station). Employees are responsible for having a workspace where they can participate in virtual meetings without multiple interruptions and noise.
tasks and Responsibilities:
»Collaborate with creative teams, instructional designers, and faculty to develop visual concepts and storyboards that align with the project goals and objectives.
»Apply video effects, transitions, color correction, and other enhancements to improve the overall visual quality.
»Ensure the audio is synchronized and enhance it with appropriate background music, sound effects, and voice-overs.
»Incorporate visual effects into motion graphics projects, such as particle systems, simulated physics, lighting effects, and other techniques to enhance the overall visual impact.
»Create or adapt graphical elements, icons, logos, or illustrations that are incorporated into motion graphics projects.
»Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in video editing and motion graphics.

»Bachelor's degree in film, Video Editing, Motion Graphics, Visual Communications, or a related field.
» practice in video editing with demonstrated proficiency in documentary-style editing strategies.
» practice creating fluid and realistic motion graphics using animation software such as Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, and Cinema 4D
» capability to work in fast-paced, rapidly changing environments.
»Proficiency in video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or Avid Media Composer.
»Knowledge of graphic design principles such as typography, layout, color theory, and composition.
» practice using industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, and Cinema 4D) to design and animate graphics.
» practice with sound editing software, such as Adobe Audition or Pro Tools, for audio enhancement.
» capability to convey a message or tell a story through motion graphics.
» capability to work collaboratively and effectively manage projects that involve diverse individuals who may be local or at a distance.
» knowledge of visual storytelling and information design.
» practice managing multiple complex multimedia projects concurrently.
