What You'll Do:

  • Works with students of diverse backgrounds and those who struggle with academic and motivation issues; provides explicit and systematic instruction to improve students’ specific skills, strategies, and concept development.
  • Assists in screening, diagnostic, and progress monitoring assessments.
  • Assists in analyzing student data to determine student profile of needs and make instructional placement and instructional focus decisions.
  • Collaborates and consults with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other specialists with a problem-solving approach to implement the most effective instructional plan for students.
  • Develops schedules and flexible groupings of homogeneous skills based on updated student performance data.
  • Monitors, supervises, coordinates, and enforces rule of conduct and behavior of assigned students; reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
  • Observes, evaluates, and records student performance, behavior, social development, and physical health; prepares student, attendance, and activity reports as required by administrators.
  • Prepares lesson plans and materials according to curriculum guidelines, adapting teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests; establishes and communicates to students clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects; and instructs students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods.
  • Prepares, administers, assigns, and grades tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using District software.
  • May participate in extra-duty activities such as coaching, tutoring, or summer programs, as outlined in the Teachers’ Collective Bargaining Agreement and in accordance with Department of Labor regulations.

What You’ll Need:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required.
  • A Master's Degree is only required for Concurrent Enrollment positions.
  • Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license. Click here for additional information regarding specific requirements and qualifications for the various subject areas ( DPS does accept a CDE Application Receipt for 90 days .)
