Job Description

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant to support classroom instruction and supervise students in the absence of the classroom teacher. This position will be Full-Time and Onsite.

What You’ll Do

  • Supervise students in the classroom in the absence of the teacher, including taking attendance, monitoring behavior, overseeing assignments, and maintaining daily records

  • Provide students with guidance in completing assignments left by the classroom teacher

  • Manage the classroom effectively and ensure a positive learning environment

  • Collaborate with other departments to enhance the learning environment for students

  • Attend and participate in faculty and professional meetings

  • Develop and review clear, accurate, and concise reports in compliance with departmental policies and procedures

  • Maintain confidentiality and follow policy during critical incidents to prevent injury, escape, or property damage

  • Operate job-related equipment as needed

  • Promote positive working relationships with students, staff, interns, volunteers, and applicable community agencies

  • Provide written reports and participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams

  • Attend and complete all required training and certifications

  • Perform related duties as assigned

What You'll Need

Required:

  • Ability to implement daily and weekly lesson plans to meet course objectives in the absence of an educator

  • Ability to create and maintain a positive learning environment conducive to individual student growth and development

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Ability to accept supervision and constructive feedback

  • Ability to maintain and control educational department supplies, equipment, and tools

  • Ability to test negative on all required drug tests

  • Ability to successfully complete all required training and certifications

Preferred:

  • Experience in classroom management or a similar educational role

  • Familiarity with multidisciplinary team settings and collaboration

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with ADA and other federal, state, and local standards

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor

  • Must be able to communicate with students, teachers, and team members both in person and over the phone

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the classroom or office to attend meetings, help students, etc.

$18.50 per hour

The pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
